Route 59 Closed In Easton Due To Crash; Downed Wire Causes Outages

UPDATE: Route 59 reopened at about 8:15 p.m. Monday, Easton police said.

original story: EASTON, Conn. – Police in Easton issued a traffic alert at about 6:10 p.m. Monday. 

Route 59 is closed in both directions due to a motor vehicle accident, police said. 

The accident is just north of North Park Avenue. Route 59 is closed between that road and Sherwood Road, police said. 

The power is out in the northeast part of Easton due to a downed wire. United Illuminating is en route to make repairs. About 80 customers are without power due to the outage, UI said.
