Redding Clears Downed Trees, Reopens Roads After Powerful Overnight Storm

REDDING, Conn. — Power is being restored and roads are being cleared as Redding cleans up after a powerful overnight rainstorm.

There were 493 customers without power as of 9:15 a.m., down from a high of 891 homes without power as of 4 a.m., Eversource said. 

Schools were able to open, but downed trees were reported in the areas of Umpawaug Road, High Ridge Road, Sandfordtown Road and Long Ridge Road, among others, the town of Redding reported. 

Downed wires were also reported in several areas. 

Redding Highway worked overnight to clear roads without wire involvement.

If you are blocked in your home, driveway or road due to a downed tree, call the Redding Police Department's Dispatch at 203-938-3400 to report the blockage.

If your power is out, call Eversource at 800-286-2000 to report it. Do not go near any downed wires — they could be live.

The Community Center is open for charging and for drinking or jug water.
