Police Seek Suspects Who Stole Credit Cards From Trumbull Mailboxes

TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Police are searching for suspects believed to have bought items using credit cards that were stolen from the mailboxes of Trumbull residents.

Police said they received several reports of credit cards stolen from mailboxes of town residents. The first occurred on July 18, when a stolen card was used in several towns in Fairfield and New Haven Counties, police said. In that case, more than $500 in purchases were charged to the credit card.

The second incident was reported on Aug. 21, when a resident discovered that $200 was charged to a credit card that he never received, police said. The third incident was reported when the victim received an email regarding usage on her new credit card that totaled over $800.

During the course of their investigation, police said that they determined that the suspects in all three cases were the same. The stores where the stolen cards had been used recorded the suspects on video, and police were able to obtain surveillance footage of the suspects and their vehicle, according to police.
