The new substation, located on the mall’s upper level between Macy’s and Lord & Taylor, will be used by officers working special duty, and by those assigned to that section of town, said the trumbulltimes.com.

Open year-round, the station will be equipped with emergency first aid equipment and can be used for suspects to be detained temporarily. An officer will be working in the office part-time, but there will not be a full-time officer on duty, added the trumbulltimes.com.

The department previously had a substation at the mall but it was closed in March due to the lease agreement, reported the trumbulltimes.com.

The substation phone number is 203-371-0417.
