The Long Hill Volunteer Fire Department and Trumbull Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the crash scene on the Merritt near Exit 48 at 10:31 p.m. Saturday, the post said.
Trumbull Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Inc. was added to the call due to a possible entrapment.
When fire units arrived, they found one car had rolled over and was blocking the entire highway, with one person trapped inside, the Facebook post said.
With the parkway shut down, emergency crews had difficulty accessing the accident scene and had to drive down the Merritt the wrong way, the fire department said.
Connecticut state police troopers were on hand to assure everyone's safety at the crash scene.
Crews extricated the victim from the car in less than 10 minutes, the fire department said.
Long Hill Firefighters remained on the scene for 90 minutes to assist state troopers in clearing the parkway and reopening the road.
