The other driver became unresponsive while behind the wheel, according to a Facebook post from Easton EMS.

The Norwalk officer pulled his cruiser along the side of the other car in an attempt to stop it, but it didn't work, the post said.

The car went off the road and struck a post directly in front of the Easton Police Department, the post said.

The dispatcher saw the crash and immediately sent for backup, the post said.

The car was still in gear with the tires spinning and the doors locked. The Norwalk police officer smashed the passenger window to stop the car from rolling forward, the post said.

EMS Ambulance 851 and Fire Department Rescue/Engine 3 were dispatched.

The car was opened and the driver was found unconscious, the Facebook post said.

With the help of all of Easton's emergency services, the driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported immediately to a local hospital for treatment.
