Monroe Police: Driver Asleep At Wheel With Empty Heroin Bags, Ice Cream

MONROE, Conn. -- A Monroe man is facing drunken driving charges after police found him asleep at the wheel with a container of ice cream in his lap, according to the Monroe Courier.

Monroe Police arrested Matthew Rotondo, 23, of Monroe for falling asleep at the intersection of Route 111 and Elm Street with his car running and a container of ice cream in his lap.

At 11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, Matthew Rotondo, 23, asleep with the engine running at Route 111 and Elm Street, said the Monroe Courier.

When awakened, Rotondo was confused and said he had taken prescription drugs, the Courier said. Police also found two empty heroin bags, the story added. 

Rotunda was charged with driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, added the Monroe Courier.
