Monroe Mother Charged With Letting Son, 10, Drive Car Seeks Probation

MONROE, Conn. -- A Monroe woman who was charged with letting her 10-year-old son drive a car while she recorded the event on Facebook Live is seeking accelerated rehabilitation, according to the Connecticut Post.

Lisa Nussbaum, 38, was charged in March with risk of injury to a child after police received several complaints from Monroe residents who viewed the video, police said.

In the video, which police watch, the woman can be seen allowing her 10-year-old son to drive a Jeep through a residential neighborhood while she recorded it on her cellphone in what police said was a rare case. Police also charged Nussbaum's boyfriend, 40-year-old Harry Hamlet, with risk of injury to a minor.

The Connecticut Post reported that Nussbaum is seeking accelerated rehabilitation, which would allow her to avoid pleading guilty to the charge if she goes on probation for two years, after which the charge against her will be dismissed.
