MONROE, Conn. – The Monroe Fire Department honored Kyle Matthews as its Firefighter of the Year earlier this month.
Matthews was recognized for a 'willingness to help newer members, commitment to training, call response and participation in our station coverage program.'
The department also named Mike Preston as the Fireman of the Year, honoring him for serving as the lead instructor for the Firefighter I training program for new recruits.
