Original story: REDDING, Conn. — Route 58 in Redding was closed late Friday morning as firefighters battled a blaze in a barn, according to Redding police dispatch and the News-Times.
The closure on Route 58/Black Rock Turnpike is between Meeker Hill and Giles Hill Road, Redding police dispatch said via Twitter.
The fire, which broke out at about 11 a.m., is in the vicinity of the Redding Ridge Market & Deli and Joel Barlow High School. It is just south of Cross Highway and St. Patrick's Church.
The Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company in Bethel has responded with mutual aid to Redding for the barn fire on Black Rock Turnpike, according to a Facebook post.
The Bethel Volunteer Fire Department has taken its tanker truck to the scene to assist, according to the News-Times.
