Shaw told the Easton Courrier that the 17 car break-ins and three home burglaries within the past couple of weeks in town mirror other thefts that are taking place along Interstate 84 and the Merritt Parkway. He believes the crimes are probably being committed by addicts from out of the area looking for money to buy heroin and other drugs, said the Easton Courier.
The chief added that currently, the heroin use numbers are staggering and that he has been attending meetings daily about the situation. He also is reminding residents once again, to lock their cars and homes, added the Easton Courier.
