Easton Police Department Taking Part In 'Walk A Mile In Her Shoes' Event

EASTON, Conn. -- The Easton Police Department is taking part in an event Saturday, April 30, called "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes," which asks men to walk 1 mile in womens' high-heeled shoes to support the March Against Violence.

The fourth annual walk will take place at 8:30 a.m. in Downtown Fairfield. It will culminate with a program on the Old Town Hall Green.

Last year, more than 500 people participated in this walk, led by First Selectman Michael Tetreau, Police Chief Gary MacNamara and U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy. Teams from Sacred Heart University, St. Joseph's High School, Fairfield Prep and Fairfield University were among the many teams participating.

It is hoped this event will get the community to talk about something that's really difficult to talk about — gender relations and sexual violence.

Although it's not required to walk in heels to take part in the event, the Easton officers are good sports and whole-heartedly support the March Against Violence.
