Gerd Semmelroggen, 56, was charged with criminal lockout, criminal trespass and second-degree threatening March 1 after raising the rent illegally and failing to follow due process, the Easton Courier said.

Semmelroggen was working for landlord Timothy W. Burke of Easton, who was indicted last month on 10 counts by a federal grand jury, the Courier said.

Burke was charged with fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, and identity theft in connection with a scheme that targeted distressed homeowners, at least two of them from Easton, according to U.S. Attorney for Connecticut Deirdre Daly. (Read about Burke's case here at the Daily Voice.)

The Easton Police Department also reported a bobcat sighting as well as many motor vehicle stops last week, the Courier said. And an Easton teen driver slammed into a police car on slippery roads last week.
