Driver in NYC crashes threatens to ‘take out a police officer,’ Port Authority says

BEYOND BERGEN: A Pennsylvania driver his a Port Authority police car, then claimed he “wanted to take out a police officer” before he was taken into custody, authorities said this morning.

Matthew Cash, 24, was headed south in the fire lane on Varick Street in lower Manhattan near the Holland Tunnel when his Audi hit two parked vehicles and the PAPD car around 7:50 p.m., the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.

“He made anti -police statements to the police, claimed he had smoked PCP and stated he wanted to take out a police officer,” Pentangelo said.

Officers found what appeared to be synthetic marijuana in the car, he added.

Cash, of Easton, PA, was charged with aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and reckless driving. Police took him to a local hospital, Pentangelo said.
