Bridgeport Man Charged In Motorcyclist's June Death In Monroe

MONROE, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man has been charged in the June 18 death of a motorcyclist after he drove through a stop sign, Monroe Police said.

Andres Hernandez Jr., has been charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle in connection with a June accident that claimed the life of a 68-year-old motorcyclist.

Andres Hernandez Jr. was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failure to obey a stop sign in connection with the death of Russell Curtis, 68, of West Haven, police said. Hernandez turned himself in to police Wednesday and was held on $20,000 bond. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Bridgeport court Thursday.

Police said that Hernandez was driving a GMC pickup truck and towing a trailer on Wheeler Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign at Route 110 and collided with Curtis, who was driving a Harley-Davidson. 

Curtis died of his injuries shortly after being transferred to Bridgeport Hospital.
