Edward Konopka, 68, Trumbull Resident

TRUMBULL, Conn. – Edward M. Konopka, of Trumbull, husband of 44 years to Claudia Broccoli Konopka, died Saturday, May 21. He was 68.

Born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Stella Szurnitski Konopka and the late Edward F. Konopka. A resident of Trumbull since 1977, he was a salesman for Bell Simons for several years and an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching all sports and New York Teams, especially golf. His greatest love was his wife and family. He served in the Army and attained the rank of sergeant.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Claudia, include his son, James Konopka, and his wife, Stephenie, of New Hampshire, and daughter, Cheryl Gowlis, and her husband, Jared, of Seymour; four grandchildren, Sophia, Julia, Benjamin Konopka and Jack Gowlis; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Road, Trumbull, with private burial at State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans Organization of one’s choice. The Commerce Hill Radozycki Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
