The 55-year-old worker sustained permanent brain damage in the accident, according to the Post.
The driver, 25-year-old Denisse Garcia pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and driving under the influence in the plea deal, the Connecticut Post said.
The assistant state’s attorney recommended Garcia get five years in prison when she is sentenced May 18, according to the Connecticut Post.
The DOT worker was struck by Garcia last April 26 while he was setting up traffic cones and flares at the scene of an earlier fatal crash near Exit 53 on the Merritt in Stratford, said the Connecticut Post.
