The town's Parks and Recreation Department made the move after receiving blow-back from the state's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, which said it would not stock large amounts of trout if there was not enough fishermen to fish, said the Bridgeport News.
Instead of the parking pass, out-of-town fishermen will need a state fishing permit, which they would need anyway, said the Bridgeport News. The permit will allow them parking access at all Trumbull parks, according to the Bridgeport News. Following the decision, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said the Pequonnock River would receive its normal amount of trout next month, added the Bridgeport News.
