Transportation Audit Shows Trumbull Seniors Aren't Using Service

TRUMBULL, Conn. --Only 20 seniors utilized a private transportation service provided for them during a 21-day period, with some days showing zero usage, according to a recent Trumbull Board of Finance audit, according to the Trumbull Times.

During budget times, town officials are looking at the cost versus the use of the service, reported the Trumbull Times. Audit officials suggested the town reduce medical transportation availability by one per week and one hour per day, which would cut 624 hours and $7,2000 annually from the overall cost of $60,000 per year, said the Trumbull Times.

The audit found most seniors used the service for medical appointments and shopping trips. The report also said 700 seniors have membership to the service, but only 69 members utilized the services during the test month, added the Trumbull Times.
