The cities were recognized in several different categories, including energy efficiency and renewable energy achievements, state Sen. Kevin Kelly told the MonroeCourier.com.
Last year, more than 20 Connecticut communities taking part in the program saved enough energy to equal the amount of electricity that 33,000 homes usually would consume in a year, said the MonroeCourier.com.
