Stephen Wright, 62, had been sought by police since late April after failing to show up to court on one of the four drunken driving arrests, according to the Connecticut Post. He was finally taken into custody last week.

While appearing in court on Wednesday, Superior Court Judge Kevin Doyle ordered that Wright be held on a $300,000 bond that could only be posted at the courthouse, according to the Connecticut Post. The judge said that Wright gave evasive answers and violated the conditions of his release, the Connecticut Post reported.
Wright had been arrested on Feb. 22 by Norwalk Police, on Feb. 27 by Shelton Police, on March 17 by state police and on April 10 by Stratford Police, according to the Connecticut Post. In the Norwalk and Stratford arrests, he was released on a promise to appear in court, while in the Shelton and state arrests, he posted $1,000 and $500 bonds, respectively.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on April 20 after he did not show up to court for his Norwalk arrest, according to the Connecticut Post. He was finally taken into custody on May 2.
In addition to now showing up for court, Wright also did not attend court-ordered alcohol education classes, the Connecticut Post reported. He had claimed that he was under arrest at the time of the class, but this turned out to not be true, the Connecticut Post reported.
Doyle said that Wright was a threat to himself and others when ordering him into custody on Tuesday, according to the Connecticut Post. A lawyer for Wright told the Connecticut Post that she expects he will be able to post bond on Wednesday.
