The town's library will be closed until further notice while the furnace is replaced, according to an announcement.
The library closed its doors at noon last Tuesday because of the lack of heat. On Wednesday, officials determined that a new furnace was needed.
"The library will remain closed for at least a few days while this situation is being addressed," said a Facebook post.
Patrons registered for upcoming programs will be sent updates via email.
The Sunday Hermes Art Series Program called "Glass-ical Music" has been moved to the First Congregational Church in Redding at 25 Cross Highway.
The library's bookdrop has been sealed to prevent further cold air from entering the building. Temperatures have dropped to single digits in the past week.
Patrons can hold onto items until the library reopens. No fines will be charged on the overdue items.
"We very much appreciate your patience and look forward to welcoming you back into the building as soon as possible," the Facebook post said.
