TRUMBULL, Conn. — A 68-year-old Trumbull woman has been identified as the passenger killed in a six-vehicle pileup Saturday morning on I-95 in East Haven, according to the New Haven Register.
The crash, which involved at least one tractor-trailer, occurred at about 11:15 a.m. on I-95 north between Exits 51 and 53. The crash briefly closed the highway and caused traffic delays for hours because of lanes were closed.
Five people had to be extricated from the most heavily damaged vehicle, in which the woman who died was a back-seat passenger, according to the New Haven Register.
Several others were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the New Haven Register.
The accident remains under investigation.
