Connecticut is one of 12 states with widespread flu activity.
As of Dec. 9, a total of 254 people had tested positive for the flu — up from 197 the previous week.
The state reported that 98 people have been hospitalized with the flu so far this season, and one flu-associated death has been reported in Connecticut. The person who died was over the age of 65 and had been hospitalized.
Influenza has been reported in seven of eight counties in Connecticut: Hartford with 76 cases, Fairfield with 73 cases, New Haven with 44 cases, New London with 29 cases, Tolland with 13 cases, Litchfield with 8 cases, Middlesex with 7 cases, and Windham with 4 cases.
