Kyle Navin, 27, was charged with two counts of murder and murder under special circumstances. His parents, Jeanette and Jeffrey Navin, disappeared from their Easton home on Aug. 3. The two were found murdered in the yard of an abandoned Weston home on Oct. 29. He had been a suspect in their disappearance and was charged after their remains were found.

Navin was was deeply in debt to his parents and was addicted to heroin, according to prosecutors, and faced being disinherited and cut off by his parents. He is held on $2.5 million bond. His girlfriend, Jennifer Valiante, 31, of Westport, is charged with conspiracy in the case and held on $2 million bond.

This was the first time Navin has entered a plea in the murders, which would have been a death penalty case before that was abolished by the Connecticut Supreme Court.

The charge of murder under special circumstances carries a maximum term of life in prison without release, the Post said.

Navin's case was continued until Feb. 24, CTPost said.
