The two-day event served up many favorites of summer carnivals — with the aroma of fried dough, popcorn and fried Oreos lingering around the lawn of Trumbull High School.
The festival was once called “Trumbull Day,” and was part of a one-day Barnum Festival Celebration. This year is the first year that the festival was held over a two-day span. It began on Friday, with food, rides and music. The close of the second evening on Saturday included a fireworks display by Atlas Pyrotechnics in celebration.
“The Fall Festival is a wonderful community-wide celebration for families to enjoy,” said Lynn Arnow, chief of staff for the office of the first selectman.
A parade of food options lined the event — with candy apples, popcorn, and cotton candy on one side, and fried Oreos, fried dough, and drinks on another. The trip down the food trucks turns up offerings that ranged from hamburgers and hot dogs to tacos, seafood, BBQ, chicken nuggets and fries, ice cream and more.
There was also beer and wine inside a tent for the adults just near the bandstand.
A bright giant Ferris wheel along with many other rides beckoned to kids of all ages. Teenagers gathered in bunches, enjoying the time with their friends, good food and good rides offered by Marenna Amusement. For the adults, plenty of food options were served up.
The lineup of music included The Desert Highway Band, Jen Durkin and the Business and the Trumbull High School Marching Band.
“There’s definitely something for everyone,” Arnow added.
