This workshop, sponsored by the Trumbull Library, will demonstrate brewing a beer, answer questions, go into the history and beer styles and provide samples of three or four different brews.
Veracious Brewing Company is at 246 Main St., Monroe, and is owned and operated by Trumbull residents Tess and Mark Szamatulski. Open since June, it offers 10 beers on tap from its flagship 29 Pews, an American IPA, to Jack’d Up, an Imperial pumpkin brew, and Lucy’s Last Call, a Belgian strong golden.
The Trumbull couple has owned neighboring Maltose Express, a beer- and wine-making supply store, for 24 years and they’ve also turned their shared love of home brewing into two books — “Clone Brews” and “Beer Captured,” the latter of which they released through their own publishing company, Maltose Pr LLC.
Registration is limited to those 21 years of age and older and to the first 50 registrants. Register at the Trumbull Library’s website by using only one name per registration or it will be voided.
April 7 is the date beer became legal again in the United States after the Cullen-Harrison Act was signed into law by President Franklin Roosevelt March 23, 1933. It’s said people waited in line overnight outside Milwaukee breweries in order to legally buy beer for the first time in more than 13 years. April 7 is a very beer-specific celebration since Prohibition did not officially end until Dec. 5, 1939.
