EASTON, Conn. -- After 30 years of giving back to the community, Easton resident C. Lee Hanson is taking a break, said the Easton Courier.

Lee Hanson has served as treasurer at the Easton Congregational Church where he and wife Eunice are members since moving to town 30 years ago.

The 30-year resident who has lived across the globe is stepping down from the town's finance board, a post he's held for 20 years, reported the Easton Courier

He and his wife of 61 years are still devoted to the home town they instantly fell in love with, and they're active with the Congregational Church of Easton, according to the Easton Courier.

Several memorials around town are dedicated to the couple's son Peter, daughter-in-law Sue, and 2-year-old granddaughter Christine, who were killed the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, said the Easton Courier.

That loss changed the course of the Hanson's activism, with Lee helping establish the Christine Lee Hanson Treatment Room in the pediatrics department at Boston Medical Center, according to the Easton Courier.
