The hike featured a stop at Whale Rock.
The outing was jointly sponsored by the Monroe Land Trust and Tree Conservatory, Monroe Parks and Recreation Department and Monroe Conservation and Water Resources Commission.
The route covers a third of a mile over terrain suitable for all ages. At least two old mine shafts, a landmark called Whale Rock and a variety of trees, ferns and wildflowers can be spotted along the way.
The trail begins behind Chalk Hill School off Fan Hill Road.
