She is hosting a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at the I.M. Smitten Gallery on Friday, April 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the gallery at 1 Trefoil Drive in Trumbull.
This private event will feature a surprise performance by a leading NYC brass band.
Tickets for this fundraiser will be sold in advance through Eventbrite for $45 per person. This fundraiser is being held the day after the 2017 Man & Woman of the Year Kickoff Celebration of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to kickstart the campaign.
In addition to this special band, SoNo Catering & Hospitality of Norwalk will be offering delicious food and tasty drinks.
I.M. Smitten Gallery is an innovative and eclectic gallery space for this fundraiser. It is revolutionizing the custom headboard design market by marrying art with technology, incorporating LED lighting and USB ports, to name a few. Working with local artists, they are creating headboards from unique pieces found around the world.
Porter has also been nominated as a candidate for Woman of the Year 2017 by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Connecticut Westchester Hudson Valley Chapter.
She said she felt compelled to run for the Man-Woman of Year on behalf of Ross.
Ross is pictured above two days after his latest chemotherapy treatment with Sabrina, Fiona's 9-year-old daughter, who has been tirelessly sewing pillows to sell for this great cause.
Buyers can choose the size, color and fabric design, or buy a pillow that is already made. She is taking orders from now until June 10. Prices start at $8. All funds collected go directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Orders can be placed by emailing Porter at fp06820@gmail.com.
