Many fans at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton thought that the on-stage collapse was part of the show, but Meat Loaf was rushed to the hospital, where he was reported Friday in stable and good condition, media reports said.

However, the singer had been struggling with health issues in the days before Thursday night's concert and had canceled at least two shows earlier this week, the CBC said.

Meat Loaf lived in several towns in Connecticut, moving to Stamford in 1979 and later moving to Westport and then Redding, where his daughter attended Joel Barlow High School. He lived in Redding into the late 1990s and has lived more recently in Texas.
