Bracket is the director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. The seminar will answer the questions: What is emotional intelligence? Why is it important?

Brackett will discuss the latest research findings on the influence of emotions on important life outcomes, and how social and emotional learning is becoming one of the most important topics in education today. He will introduce life skills that both children and adults can develop to improve their relationships, resilience, ability to learn, and decision-making in the classroom and in life.

He has published more than 100 scholarly articles and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Joseph E. Zins Award for his research on social and emotional learning. He is the co-creator of RULER, an evidence-based approach to teaching social and emotional learning that has been adopted by more than 1,000 public and private schools reaching nearly one million students, including their educators and families.

The event is free and open to the public. RSVP at TrumbullRSVP@gmail.com by April 15.
