Library Plans Gala Panel Discussion For Monroe Reads Together

MONROE, Conn. -- The Edith Wheeler Memorial Library is hosting a Monroe Reads Together Event Gala Panel Discussion on Tuesday, March 29.

Monroe Superintendent of Schools James Agostina will moderate the discussion, and there will be three special guests.

  • Mara Ford -- 1988 Olympic women’s crew and vice president of the National Rowing Foundation
  • Tom Weil -- rowing historian, Mystic Seaport director and former Yale crew member
  • Commander William Randal -- 1987 U.S. national team and U.S. Coast Guard Academy rowing director

Registration is not required. The Monroe Reads Together book for 2016 is “The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.”

The event will begin at 7 p.m., in Jockey Hollow Middle School.
