That''s how many meals the Monroe Rotary Club will provide in the "Feed the Hungry 10K No Run - No Foolin' Event."
The daylong initiative — scheduled for April 1— calls upon volunteers to package up the ingredients to make macaroni and cheese meals. The goal is to pack up 10,000 servings total.
Each bag packed will be enough for six meals or a family.
The volunteers will then "run" the packages to various food pantries in the area, including the one in Monroe.
“Many people think of 10K road races. We thought we’d have a little fun with our event name since it’s April Fool’s Day," April 1, said Katie Bailey, a club member.
At least 60 helpers are needed to help from 10 a.m. to noon at Jockey Hollow Middle School in Monroe.
Donations are also needed to help with supplies and other Monroe Rotary efforts.
If you can volunteer or make a donation email RotaryMonroe@gmail.com or Katie Bailey at kbailey@therussellagency.com.
