The Mass, offered for all the deceased bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated men and women and lay faithful in the diocese, will be open to the public and take place rain or shine.
A tent will be provided in the case of inclement weather.
“It is my hope that this special Mass will be celebrated every year and become a new tradition in the Diocese of Bridgeport,” said Caggiano, adding that plans call for the event to be held at a different diocesan cemetery each year.
Catholics traditionally visit cemeteries on All Souls Day to remember the dead and pray for their souls.
The diocese sponsors nine cemeteries around Fairfield County.
