Author Talks On Issues Women Faced In Colonial Times At Library In Redding

REDDING, Conn. -- Author Velya Jancz-Urban will present a talk called “The Not-So Good Life of the Colonial Goodwife” at the Mark Twain Library in Redding.

The talk will be Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 7:30 p.m.

Attendees will learn how Colonial women dealt with everyday issues such as menstruation, sex and childbirth during a talk by a Connecticut author whose research uncovered hidden truths about the lives of women in the 18th century.

“'The Not-So-Good Life of The Colonial Goodwife' not only makes audience members laugh and grimace, but it also honors our foremothers. It’s not about quilting bees and spinning wheels--it’s an interactive presentation about the little-known issues faced by New England’s colonial women,” said Jancz-Urban, a teacher who gives talks on the subject throughout the state.

She will also present her historical novel, “Acquiescence.” A book sale and signing will follow.

The Mark Twain Library is at 439 Redding Road, West Redding.
