Trumbull is suffering the most of any community in the county, according to a 2017 office space market analysis by Cushman & Wakefield, with a 44 percent vacancy rate -- the highest in the region.
Like other communities in southwestern Connecticut, Trumbull’s office vacancy rate was skewed by one empty building: the 253,000-square-foot former United Healthcare building, the report found. The company moved hundreds of its insurance workers to smaller space in Shelton three years ago, leaving the hole in Trumbull’s total occupied office space.
