Trumbull First Selectman Will Address Business Community At Luncheon

TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Trumbull First Timothy M. Herbst will address the business community at a luncheon hosted by the Trumbull Chamber of Commerce March 31 at Tashua Knolls Banquets in Trumbull.

Timothy M. Herbst was elected First Selectman of Trumbull Nov. 3, 2009 at age 29. He became the youngest elected first selectman in the history of Trumbull’s government. First Selectman Herbst believes the strength of a community rests upon three pillars - - strong finances, strong schools and a strong quality of life. Since taking office Herbst has made as his highest priority strengthening these three pillars. 

A lifelong Trumbull resident, Herbst graduated from Trumbull High School in 1998, where he played football and served as class president. Thereafter, he graduated with honors from Trinity College in 2002, earning a B.A. in political science. While in college, First Selectman Herbst interned for Deputy House Minority Leader Themis Klarides and was also elected president of the student body. 

At the age of 19, Mr. Herbst was elected to the Planning and Zoning Commission, where he served for 11 years, including 4 years as Chairman. His election to public office at the age of 19 was featured in the New York Times in July of 2001. A 2007 graduate of Pace University School of Law, where he was a member of the Pace Environmental Law Review, Herbst previously practiced law with the Trumbull law firm of Owens, Schine and Nicola before his election as First Selectman.

Herbst is a member of the Trinity Club of Fairfield County and the Pace Law School Alumni Board of Directors.
