In addition to overseeing all aspects of the community’s security and transportation, Scharf will liaise with the local police and fire departments.
"Security patrols the property 24 hours, seven days per week, providing a safe but open living environment for our residents," Scharf said.
"Our security officers are also EMT first responders for all medical emergencies. If a resident needs to go to the hospital, the officer travels with them to maintain continuity of care."
Meadow Ridge has five full-time and five part-time drivers who help with medical appointments, church services, shopping trips and social events.
Scharf has a law enforcement background and a history working with seniors. He retired from the Ridgefield Police Department and worked with senior citizen groups in Ridgefield.
"I found working with senior residents very enjoyable," Scharf said. "So Meadow Ridge seemed like the perfect fit. It’s a wonderful place to work, and I have a great team of people."
Scharf graduated from the University of New Haven with a master’s degree in national security and also graduated from the FBI National Academy.
