Man Charged In CT Smash-Grab Jewelry Store Robbery A Fairfield County man has been charged in connection with a smash-and-grab robbery in which the thieves made off with an unknown quantity of jewels. On Wednesday, May 29, Westport Police arrested 30-year-old Bridgeport resident Javon Thorbourne in connection with the case on Thursday, May 9, at the Lux, Bond, and Green at 136 Main St.  According to Lt. Eric Woods of the Westport Police, on the date of the robbery, employees of the store reported two individuals wearing masks and gloves entered the store with sledgehammers and began smashing display cases.…

Woman Charged For Writing 'Save Gaza' On CT Crosswalk A Fairfield County woman was charged with criminal mischief for spray painting "Save Gaza" on a crosswalk. The incident occurred in Westport on Thursday, May 23, on the crosswalk at Post Road East in the area of Main Street. According to Lt. Matthew Gouveia of the Westport Police, a Bridgeport resident identified as Katerina Hasiotis inked the words, which caused damage and resulted in temporary repairs being made. A large fine arts festival that is a huge favorite with Fairfield County residents will close down a major roadway over the holiday weekend. The Westport Downtown Association Fine Arts Festival -- which runs Saturday, May 27 through Sunday, May 28 -- will close Main Street between Post Road East and Avery Place and Elm Street between Main Street and Bedford Square, said Westport Police Lt.
