Waterbury police are investigating separate weekend shootings that left one man dead and two others hospitalized. They are asking the public for tips.
The first shooting happened at 12:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, outside 7 Blessings Smoke Shop at 1309 East Main St.
Jordance Dozier, 47, of Waterbury, was found lying in the road with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said.

BET Host, Radio Legend Angela Stribling Dies
Angela Stribling, a former BET host, jazz artist, and longtime radio personality whose voice became a staple in Washington, DC, and beyond, has died, loved ones announced on social media Sunday, Sept. 27. She was 58 years old.
A cause of death was not made public.
Her friend and former BET colleague Ed Gordon was one of many mourning her loss.
“So very sad to hear Angela Stribling has passed away. We worked together and became friends during our years at the network and remained friends once we both moved on to other opportunities.”

A defining voice from the MTV-era new wave boom has gone silent.
Naked Eyes announced Wednesday, Sept. 23, that Pete Byrne, the singer and songwriter for the British synth-pop group, had died at age 74.
Byrne died peacefully in Los Angeles, California, on Monday, Sept. 14, following a brief illness, according to the announcement posted on the band’s website.

Parking Lot Drug Bust Leads Police To Gun Inside Danbury Housing Authority Apartment
A drug sale in a Connecticut parking lot led police to crack cocaine and a gun inside a housing authority apartment, investigators said.
Patricia Saunders, 59, of Danbury, and Ronald Reiske Jr., 49, of Brookfield, were arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 22, after a month-long investigation into drug sales in Danbury, authorities said. The DEA’s Bridgeport office assisted.
Police said detectives watched Saunders leave her apartment at 7 Fairfield Ridge in Danbury and drive to 72 South St., where they saw her make a drug sale. Officers took Saunders and Reiske into custody without incident.

More than five years after a 24-year-old man was shot multiple times inside a Westchester County, NY apartment building, the Connecticut man accused of killing him has admitted to murder.
