CT EnCon Officers Rescue Deer Stuck In Netting
A deer who was tangled in some netting was recently saved by officers with the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police. The incident took place on Sunday, Nov. 1, when several EnCon officers responded to the Veterans Memorial Soccer field in the town of Manchester on the report of a deer tangled in some netting, the department said. With the help of the Manchester Police Department and a couple of civilian volunteers, officers were able to secure the animal, remove the netting and the young buck whitetail deer was safely released, they said. Deer-Mating Season, Earlier Sunsets Lead To Increases In Crashes
Oh, deer. It’s deer mating season, and area residents have been cautioned that there will be a rise in vehicle collisions involving the animal for several months. The breeding season for white-tailed deer in the area runs from October to January, with peak activity taking place in mid-November, leading to an increase of sightings and collisions involving deer vs. drivers. AAA said that following the shift in clocks for Daylight Savings Time over the weekend, drivers and pedestrians should be most aware of potential collisions with deer between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. during the evening commute.…
