The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending indoor mask-wearing in four Connecticut counties in its latest COVID-19 data tracker report. The CDC displays counties in orange, yellow, or green on a color-coded map shown in the image above to guide local residents and authorities: Counties shown in orange are where the CDC advises wearing masks indoors. The federal government has set up a one-stop website for all things related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The White House has just launched COVID.gov, a website designed to consolidate information regarding everything from free high-quality masks and antiviral pills to vaccines, tests, and treatments. A Fairfield County school district announced it will be among those who will be lifting its COVID-19 mask policy when the state-ordered mandate ends on Monday, Feb. 28. Fairfield County has been added to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's list of counties that recorded a high level of community transmission of COVID-19. In the week from Tuesday, Aug. 10 through Monday, Aug. 16, Fairfield County had a high level of community transmission, according to the CDC. Most COVID-19 cases are transmitted by people who do not exhibit symptoms, according to a new study by CDC researchers. Officials in Stamford are alerting residents about a potential spike in COVID-19 cases.
