High-Speed Diamond Cutter Used To Remove Seat Belt From Child's Finger
A quick-acting team of emergency responders used a high-speed diamond cutter to remove a seat belt stuck to a child's finger in Northern Fairfield County. It happened Friday night, Sept. 13. New Fairfield Fire and EMS requested mutual aide from the Danbury Fire Department for a 5-year-old boy with a finger stuck in the seat belt buckle from his school bus. The City of Danbury Fire Department worked diligently on Labor Day to combat a commercial fire that broke out on Shelter Rock Lane. Danbury Police say they received a report of a burglar alarm at 50 Shelter Rock Lane on Monday, Sept. 2 around 5 p.m. Upon arrival, police say they enlisted the help of the fire department after observing smoke coming from the building, which was determined to be C & S Auto & Truck Repair. Firefighters responded quickly and knocked down a house fire in Danbury where officials say a propane cylinder was found in an attic. Just before 9:30 p.m. late Saturday, April 20, the Danbury Fire Department responded to a reported fire in the attic of the two-story house on Quien Street. A person had to be extricated from a vehicle that was seriously damaged after crashing into several objects before landing just a few feet from a house in Danbury. A van crashed into a church-owned building in Danbury and caused considerable damage. The Danbury 911 center received calls regarding a vehicle that had crashed into the building at 39 New Street on Sunday, March 24 around 6:30 p.m. Members of the Danbury Fire Department arrived and discovered that the full-size van slammed into the building, which is a house owned by the Philadelphia Pentecostal Church and used as a rectory. Danbury fire crews responded to a two-alarm house fire that broke out on Thursday, March 7 around 7:40 a.m. The blaze occurred on Clairanne Drive off of Kingswood Road. Fire crews discovered smoke billowing from the roof and garage of a two-story occupied residence. The occupants were evacuated safely while crews worked to combat the blaze. A three-alarm fire heavily damaged a Danbury deli. The Danbury 911 center received multiple calls stating that a large amount of smoke was billowing from the Marcello's Deli and Catering near Lake Avenue and Hobson Street late in the evening on Monday, Jan. 14. Firefighters along with the help of Good Samaritans were able to save almost 100 puppies when a fire broke in a warehouse attached to a local pet store in Danbury. The fire was reported around 8:56 p.m. Thursday, Jan., 3, a fire was reported on Lake Avenue Extension in the area of the "Puppy Love" building, said the Danbury Fire Department on Facebook. A woman was extricated after a two-vehicle crash on I-84 late Saturday night. The crash occurred just before 11 p.m. in Bethel between exits 8 and 9, where responders from Bethel, Danbury and Brookfield converged on the scene. Van Becomes Engulfed In Flames At Trader Joe's
A van became fully engulfed in flames early Saturday afternoon at a popular grocery store in the area. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on the side of the building at Trader Joe's on Mill Plain Road in Danbury. Danbury Fire Department crews stretched a line and rapidly extinguished the fire. A few adjacent cars were damaged due to the volume of fire upon arrival. The Danbury Fire Marshals Office was called in to investigate the cause of the fire which is undetermined at this time.

Four-Seat Airplane Forced To Make Emergency Landing At Danbury Airport
A four-seat airplane was forced to make an emergency landing late Sunday morning at the Danbury Airport and both the pilot and passenger managed to avoid suffering injuries. At approximately 11:34 a.m., Danbury Fire and EMS units were dispatched to the airport on a report of an aircraft with an in-flight emergency.
