Mehdi Jafri of Stamford was arrested on Friday, Oct. 20 by Stamford Police following the investigation conducted along with the Department of Homeland Security, and Westport Police after the department's investigators who investigate internet crimes against children received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
In August, investigators executed a search warrant at Jafri's apartment seizing numerous items. Among the items seized were large files of child pornography hidden on a laptop belonging to Jafri, said Capt. Thomas Barcello, of the Stamford Police.
Ultimately, investigators were able to find 520 images and eight videos of child pornography, Barcello said.
"These horrific images and videos displayed children engaged in sexual acts, sexual positions, and sexual poses," Barcello said.
Jafri was charged with possession of child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance.
He was held on a $125,000 bond and was arraigned in court on Monday, Oct. 23.
