Trinity Stays Unbeaten Against Wilton

There was no letdown for the Lady Crusaders after their dramatic last-minute win over Stamford in the season opener of the girls basketball season. Trinity Catholic High School used a 10-0 run late in the first half to shut down a struggling Wilton team to win its second game of the season Friday night, 48-35.

Eight Lady Crusaders contributed to the score sheet, with junior McKenzie Griffin leading with 13 points. The guard double act of senior co-captain Erin Sottosanti and sophomore Jovan Kingwood passed the ball well and contributed a combined 15 points.

Trinity led by as much as 14 in the second half, thanks in part to foul trouble on the Wilton side. The Lady Crusaders were nearly perfect from the free-throw line, racking up 18 points.

One of Wilton's bright spots was Casey Pearsall who led all scorers with 15 points. Maddy Fulton had 13 points for the Warriors. Wilton could not find consistency outside of those two players, which contributed to Trinity's win.

Trinity, now 2-0, will play its third-straight home game Wednesday when it hosts Lauralton Hall in a nonconference game.
