Stamford's Holy Spirit Hosts Preschool Fair

STAMFORD, Conn. — Savvy parents such as Dawn Clarke know the advantages of sending kids to preschool. That's why the Stamford mom is helping organize Holy Spirit School's preschool fair, to be held Wednesday, Oct. 5.

“This event bring everyone together under one roof and hopefully helps parents find the right fit for their child,” says Clarke. Her children attend Holy Spirit, and her experiences with the school prompted her to join as a volunteer and work in the admissions department.

While Holy Spirit was the perfect fit for her children, Clarke and the school recognize that different parents have different wants and needs. Some need three-day programs while others are more comfortable with five. Certain hours in the day work better in one family's situation than another's.

The Preschool Fair brings multiple programs to one location to allow busy parents a convenient place to investigate options. Most of the programs invited to attend are geared toward academic preparation. Ones designed more for socialization skills are allowed to participate if there is room.

Schools are not restricted to Stamford. New Canaan and other communities will also be represented.

Clarke says now is the time to start looking for a preschool program if your children will be ready next year. There are two age groups: 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds. Admissions for next year will generally begin in January.

Participating schools in Wednesday's fair include Brookdale School, Childcare Learning Centers, The Children’s School, Convent of the Sacred Heart, Grace Christian School, Greenwich Catholic School, Holy Spirit School, King Low Heywood Thomas, Our Lady Star of the Sea, St. Cecilia School, The Montessori School and New Canaan Country School. More schools may be in attendance.

The Preschool Fair will take place at the Holy Spirit School Recreation Hall, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
