Stamford Teachers Attend GE Conferences

STAMFORD, Conn. — It may be mid-summer, but Stamford educators are keeping busy attending national General Electric Foundation conferences this month.

Thirty Stamford educators made their way to Orlando, Fla., for the General Electric Foundation Developing Futures in Education Conference that began Monday, July 18. Participants will work with the writers of math and literacy standards to find solutions to challenges, a Stamford Public Schools press release said.

And about 20 Stamford middle school math and science teachers went to the General Electric Foundation and NASA/National Science Teachers Association conference last week in Cocoa Beach, Fla. It consisted of interactive workshops and team planning exercises on integrating Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in the classroom, the release said.
