STAMFORD, Conn. Students in a Stamford at-risk program heard firsthand accounts of the dangers of drug and alcohol use on a recent visit to a drug treatment and rehabilitation center.
The students are a part of the Alternative Routes to Success program run by Stamford Public Schools for children who have academic or behavioral problems in a regular school setting, the schools' website said. The program allows students to receive instruction at community centers or at home, the website said.
The Straight Talk Field Trip visited Liberation Programs. Last year, the program's clients gave 485 presentations to high school and middle school students, and talked to more than 5,200 people from Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, New Canaan and Wilton, the statement said.
