New Real Estate Firm Takes Over Stamford Buildings

STAMFORD, Conn. — ClearRock Properties bought a 270,000-square-foot four-building site on Canal Street in Stamford’s South End, a news release from the company said.

“The redevelopment of the vibrant South End neighborhood continues to provide new and exciting opportunities for office as well as housing and entertainment. We look forward to leading the next round of development and furthering the positive impact revitalization has had on the area,” Doug Winshall, principal manager of ClearRock, said in the release.

The real estate firm will begin a redevelopment and leasing project at one of the buildings, 700 Canal St., to modernize its exterior, redesign the main entrance and lobby, and reconfigure floor plans, among other changes, the release said.

The other buildings, 850, 860 and 880 Canal St., may also go under some renovations, the release said.

“The revitalization of this property will ensure that it’s a leader in the market, bringing more businesses to the South End neighborhood and spurring broader gentrification that will have a lasting impact on office leasing in the neighborhood,” Julia Lindh, an executive managing director at MKDA, the architect firm for the project, said in the release.
